Tuesday 12th October, 4:30pm – Visual Effects (VFX) for Film, Television and Games Book now
Visual effects (VFX) are everywhere – from Marvel blockbusters and immersive content, to commercials, television programmes, games and independent movies. This session will discuss the career paths available in VFX, including CG 3D and compositing, and how to get there. There is no typical route into this area as the role encompasses so many adaptable skills!
Join Head of VFX at NFTS, Ian Murphy and NFTS Digital Effects alumni to hear about what it is like working in the industry, learn about their pathway and how this could be a great career choice.
This would be of interest to your Animation and Visual Effects, Computer Science, Film and Television Studies, Film Production, Media Production and Product Design students who are interested in this career path.
Wednesday 13th October, 4:30pm – Colour Grading and Finishing Book now
This session will discuss the learning and practicing the crafts of colour grading and finishing, from conforming right through to delivery for film, television, games, commercials and immersive content. This will be of interest to undergraduates who are interested in a career in post-production, visual and/or digital effects. There is no ‘typical’ route into this area as the role encompasses so many adaptable skills!
This would be suitable for your students studying Animation and Visual Effects, Computer Science, Film and Television Studies, Film Production, Media Production and Product Design.
Thursday 14th October, 4:30pm – Directing Animation Book now
Join Head of Animation at the NFTS, Robert Bradbrook, and course alumni who will share their insight into this exciting and growing industry. Learn about the skills you needed for storytelling, creating characters and the art of animation, ways to develop a portfolio of work and how to use these to begin a career as an animator.
This session would be suitable for students currently studying degrees in a relevant subject, such as Animation and Visual Effects, Film and Television Studies, Film Production, Illustration and Media Production.
Wednesday 20th October, 4:30pm – Cameras, Sound and Vision Mixing for Television Book now
This session will discuss the career paths in live multi-camera television production. Learn about the core skills needed as a Camera Operator, hear about the live visual effects needed during a live production and how to mic and mix sound for genres including music, drama and sport.
This would be suitable for your Design for Event, Exhibition and Performance, Film and Television Studies, Film Production, Journalism, Media Production and Sound and Music Production students.
Thursday 21st October, 4:30pm – Film Studies, Programming and Curation Book now
This session would be suitable for students studying Communications and Public Relations, Design for Event, Exhibition and Performance, Film and Television Studies, Journalism and Media Studies, who interested in building a successful career in film exhibition, programming, criticism or archival work.
Join NFTS Head of Film Studies, Programme and Curation and course alumni to hear about their exciting careers and their route into this industry. Learn about the core skills needed and the knowledge and understanding required for film curating and programming, and related fields, including film criticism.
