INDIE-LINCS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2023 -- 23-25 FEB -- LINCOLN PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

Indie-Lincs is almost upon us for another year. The festival is a celebration of Independent film and their filmmakers, and provides an opportunity for filmmakers, film fanatics and film students to share the same physical space (LPAC) in Lincoln for three days next week. Run entirely by volunteers, the festival is funded by Lincoln School of Film Media & Journalism with support from BFI Network through Film Hub Midlands.

The festival kicks off at 7.30pm on Thurs 23rd FEB, and what better way to celebrate LGBT+ History Month than kicking off with a screening of the highly anticipated BIFA winner and BAFTA nominated UK Feature Film BLUE JEAN (2022) – Set in Thatcher’s Britain it follows PE teacher Jean, whose hidden life is rocked by the arrival of a new pupil at her school. This screening will also be followed by a Q&A with Director Georgia Oakley.

Other highlights include industry guest speakers in the shape of Tracey Hyde, a talent agent from leading London agency Casarotto Ramsay, who will discuss her role in the film industry and how talent can best apply themselves when seeking an agent, and John Hollingworth, an actor who has worked with directors such as Ridley Scott (Napoleon), Ben Wheatley (Rebecca) and Chris Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises). John will be discussing his acting career and how filmmakers can attract top acting talent to their films.

In addition to this, the festival has curated 40 international films (4 features and 36 shorts) for your viewing pleasure, and will provide plenty of space for filmmaker Q&As and networking over the course of the weekend with socials in the evenings.

The festival is an excellent opportunity for both staff and students to connect with the Film Industry or for those with an interest in film to connect with some wonderful independent cinema.
